Compare the2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6VS 2023 Kia EV6

For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Kia EV6 doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

Both the Ioniq 6 and the EV6 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Ioniq 6’s corrosion warranty is 2 years and unlimited miles longer than the EV6’s (7/unlimited vs. 5/100,000).

Hyundai pays for scheduled maintenance on the Ioniq 6 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Hyundai will pay for tire rotations, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Kia doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the EV6.

The Ioniq 6 has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The EV6 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Ioniq 6’s wheelbase is 1.9 inches longer than on the EV6 (116.1 inches vs. 114.2 inches).

The Ioniq 6 SE handles at .86 G’s, while the EV6 Wind e-AWD pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Ioniq 6 has 1.2 inches more front headroom, 3 inches more front legroom, .3 inches more front hip room, .2 inches more front shoulder room and 1.7 inches more rear shoulder room than the EV6.

Car and Driver performed a comparison test in its July 2023 issue and the Hyundai Ioniq 6 Limited 4x4 won out over the Kia EV6 GT.

The Hyundai Ioniq outsold the Kia EV6 by almost three to one during 2022.
